Standard School District and Fulton Public Schools Streamline Business Operations and Increase Cost Savings with Auvik Network Management Tools
Auvik’s network management helps small IT teams make a big impact with remote monitoring and management capabilities
WATERLOO, ON, June 23, 2022 — Auvik, an award-winning provider of cloud-based network management software, today announced Standard School District and Fulton Public Schools have been working with Auvik leading to increased efficiency, real-time network visibility and a strong return on investment.
Fulton Public Schools in Missouri is a fully accredited district with 2,200 students across three elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an early childhood center. Standard School District, located in California, serves 3,100 students across three elementary schools and one middle school. Both districts have dedicated IT teams that monitor the technology needs of all the schools within their respective districts.
Network management has become an increasingly prominent need in education facilities, as many districts continue virtual learning options and increase their number of connected security devices and in-classroom interactive learning technology. Before implementing Auvik’s network management software, the teams relied on manual configuration and monitoring processes – using large portions of their work day to travel to each school and perform maintenance on individual devices. Now, Auvik’s software provides remote management and maintenance, allowing the teams to focus on other priorities.
“It took just a few days to get a return on value from the entire implementation,” said Jeff Davis, Director of IT, Standard School District. “We’d tried a few open-source tools before Auvik, but they were very configuration heavy and took up a lot of senior-level staff’s time. The team also explored some commercial offerings but found they were either too vendor-specific, cost-prohibitive or both. Auvik’s out-of-the-box configuration was up and running in just under an hour and has helped us streamline our business operations, allowing our junior-level techs to find and resolve network issues directly, while our senior-level techs invest their time in larger projects.”
Dan Hedgpath, Technology Director for Fulton Public Schools, also turned to Auvik to help his team improve operational efficiency and help the district better prepare for long-term growth. One of the first projects the team of four tackled was adding over 200 video surveillance cameras to every campus. With Auvik, they are able to manage and monitor all of those devices from a central location.
“Auvik is a visual tool that helps the team quickly understand where to look first if there’s an issue,” said Hedgpath. “We are currently conducting intensive planning for long-term growth, which includes additional IT equipment, so centralized management was a big priority for us. With Auvik, we don’t have to manually monitor and document our network or travel to campus to update firmware – we can look up an IP for port data on a device across town without having to leave the office. As we’ve continued to add devices on our network, the automated configuration backups and visibility through mapping, documentation, and real-time alerts has saved our team hours of travel and on-site service.”
